I've shot with lots of different trigger shoes, some with wider safety levers, some with the standard dingus, some with a cut down dingus (Johnny Glock OEM modded shoe) some levers wider, some narrower. I do not insert my finger deep into the trigger guard and pull with the first knuckle. You only need that sort of leverage for heavy trigger pulls.

I replaced the serrated trigger shoe on my 48 with a smooth shoe from a 42. Best $10 mod you can do to the 43, 43X, or 48 in my opinion. If you hate the serrated trigger and want to keep stock internals, I would recommend the 42 shoe 100%.
