Finally, just shoot the dreadnought hull until it's destroyed. Ignore the engines and everything else.Your frigates can be damaged. When that happens, look for them near your freighter. They'll have a red ship icon on them. Find a landing pad on the frigate, and after a short conversation, you can tell them to mark the damaged components.
