Do whatever works for you. My only suggestion is to use EVERY practice NBME for each shelf. They're like $20 each or you can find them online via FB groups for free if you have connections. I didn't realize this, but the shelf exams are pay to play. They literally reuse questions from the practice exams on the actual shelf exam.
