We're hoping to get our first pup, a sheltie, in the summer! We thought we'd like a female pup because we've heard they tend to be slightly more independent, and we like that they (and their coats) are a bit smaller. But, of course, getting a male from a breeder is a lot easier as females are usually held back or sold to other breeders.
